 MITTEN TREE

During the week of December 8th, we will be collecting new mittens, hats, and scarves to be donated to a Mission Society of Boston.  “Trees” or boxes will be located in each classroom. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

FEASTS, FUNDRAISER, AND FOOD DRIVE (Oh, my!)

We would like to thank all of you for your participation in our classroom Harvest Feasts.  The turnouts were great and we appreciate the time you took to be with us. All of the children (and their teachers) worked hard to make their feasts a big success.  Many thanks also to all who contributed to our food drive.  Mrs. Lucey was kind enough to take all of your donations to the Newton Food Pantry.

We also would like to thank you for all of your Original Works orders.  We raised $1050 which will go into our scholarship and our playground funds!  Your generosity was topped only by the children’s beautiful artwork.  Many Thanks!

 WINTER BREAK

We would like to remind you that Rockwell will be closed Monday, December 22nd through Friday, January 2nd for winter break.  School will reopen on Monday, January 5th.

 LASELL STUDENTS

We would like to thank our student aides, Taylor Witherbee, Kelsey Williams, Katrina Kataftos, Gabriella Patterson, and Francesca Ceppetelli, who helped us in so many ways throughout this semester.  They have become a very important part of our classrooms.  It is our hope that most, if not all, of them will be back at the end of January to work with us for the spring semester.

 PEACE FEST

On Sunday, December 7th, from 1-5 pm, Lasell College will be hosting a Peace Fest in deWitt Hall in the Winslow building at the corner of Maple St. and Woodland Rd.  There will be children’s activities, music and dance performances.  There will be door prizes and holiday gifts for purchase.  Funds raised will support jobs for youth through Action for Boston Community Development.

 WINTER WEAR

As the weather begins to turn colder we will continue to go outside on a daily basis (unless it is bitter cold or raining).  “There is no bad weather, just bad clothing”. Please send in the appropriate clothing LABELED with your child’s name:  mittens, hats, boots, and snow pants if necessary.

SNOWDAYS

Please listen to WBZ 1030AM or WRKO 680AM on your radio, or TV channels 4, 5, or 7 for weather related closings.  We are closed if Lasell College is closed.  I will also change the message on the office phone (617-243-2355) to indicate whether or not we are closed.  If the college delays opening until 9:00 or 10:00 we will also follow that schedule.

 WINTER AFTERNOON ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

This winter we will be offering a yoga program on Thursday afternoons from 1:15 to 2:00.  If there is enough interest, we will add an early class at 12:15.  Lara Hocheiser of My First Yoga will be our yoga instructor for the fourth year.

Please register for the yoga program by Friday, December 12th.

Children may stay for the extended day without participating in this program.

 NEXT YEAR’S CONTRACTS
