FAMILY INTERNATIONAL POT LUCK NIGHT

On Thursday, May 10th, we will be holding our annual family potluck dinner from 5:30 -7:00 on the playground. This year we are changing from our traditional "barbecue' theme to an "international" theme.  We are asking you to bring a favorite dish representing your country or culture, or you can simply bring a dessert, salad, beverage, paper goods, etc.  You have probably already received a "sign-up genius" email.. The children will be learning a few songs with Ms. Lidia to sing to us the start the evening.

We will also be silently auctioning off 3 great classroom bags. Proceeds from the auction will benefit our professional development fund. Families whose children will be entering Rockwell in September have been invited to our potluck, so please join us in welcoming them to our community.

SUMMER PROGRAM

Summer program balances are due on May 4.  Summer program begins on Monday, June 4 and goes through June 29 from 9:00 to 1:00.  There is an optional early drop off at 8:30 a.m. for a fee of $6.  Please note that there is a week off between the end of the school year and the start of the summer program.  Also, if your child is attending week 2 of camp this will be soccer week.  There is an additional cost of $25 to help defray the cost of the coach.  Please make checks out to Be Ahead of the Game.

Week 1:  Music Week with visits from Ms. Lidia and Brenda Callahan (Imagine and Move)
Week 2:  Soccer/Sports Week with Be Ahead of the Game (5 mornings)
Week 3: Nature/Science Week with 4 visits from Dr. Judy Campbell (Nature Knowledge for Kids)
Week 4:  Variety Week with days like "Beach Day" and "Camping Day"

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL

On Friday, May 25, we will have our traditional All School End-of-the-Year Family Picnic at 11:30 on the playground.  This will be preceded in the Four-Year-Old class and the Transition Kindergarten by graduation ceremonies.  Please check with your child's teachers for the exact times.  Families of all three classrooms are invited to bring blankets and picnic lunches and join us on the playground.  (There is no extended day program that day.) We look forward to seeing all of you there!

STUDENTS, VOLUNTEERS and VILLAGE VOLUNTEER

We have been blessed with two wonderful volunteers from Lasell Village this year: Judy Becker in our Younger Preschool, and Phillip Shabecoff in the Older Preschool.  They have been an amazing help in these classrooms and have added joy to the program.  Thank you, Judy and Phillip!! We would also like to thank Ruchi Basin and all the Lasell students who volunteered, did pre-practicums, internships or who were employed at Rockwell this year.  They have added a wonderful dimension to our program, and the children (and teachers) have really enjoyed having them here. We hope that they will consider returning to Rockwell in the future.

We want to extend our sincere congratulations and best wishes to "Miss Gabby" Patterson and "Miss Mallorie" Smith who will be graduating from Lasell this spring.  We have been very fortunate to have them with us for the last 4 years, and we wish them the very best in their future endeavors.

CONGRATULATIONS, MRS. HURWITZ

On May 12, our own Mrs. Hurwitz will be receiving her Master's Degree in business here at Lasell.   She has been working very hard for this, but we sincerely hope that the only "business" she has in mind is Rockwell business! Congratulations, Sandy!!

COMMUNITY EVENTS

Please see flyers posted on the playground door for any new community event information that we receive.

It is hard to believe that the school year is almost over.  It has been our pleasure to love, learn, play, and work with your children.  We are grateful for your kind and generous support throughout the year.  We wish all of the children who are going off to new schools happy, healthy and successful school years, and look forward to seeing our returning children in the fall.
