PARENT CURRICULUM NIGHT
Our annual Parent Curriculum Night will be held on Tuesday, October 22nd. The 3-year-old families will meet from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m, while our TK and 4-year-old families will meet from 7:00 to 8:00. This is a great opportunity to see how your children spend their time each morning and to find out how the teachers develop their curriculum. We look forward to seeing you there! No children please.
On Tuesday, October 29th, we will be walking to Yamawaki Auditorium to listen to "Spooky Ookey" Halloween stories with Big Joe the Storyteller along with the preschoolers from the Barn. The program will run from 10:30 to about 11:20, so we are going to ask that our 11:30 children be picked up there. We will send more information and directions to Yamawaki in a couple of weeks. If you would like to join us, you are more than welcome!
We would like to thank those who participated in our Midland Fund Raiser. This was not a very big success. We had not done one of these types of fundraiser in several years, and we thought it might be worth a try this year. We were wrong!!
Our annual Halloween celebrations will be held on Thursday, October 31st. The 3's and 4's will be having a party at snack time, and the T.K. will be trick or treating on campus and end at the cafeteria for lunch. We ask that the children BRING in a costume in a bag with NO MASK OR WEAPONS.
We will help them dress for the party. We ask that the Parent Coordinators organize the snacks/goodies/prizes part of our party in the three and four-year-old classrooms. Please ask your respective classroom teachers if you need any suggestion
A year ago the college hired a playground inspector to check out both the Rockwell and Barn playgrounds. As we continue to make safety a priority, and comply with new Department of Early Education and Care regulations, we are "rebuilding" our playground. With generous donations, fundraisers, and a lot of help from the College, we now have a new tire swing, a new climbing structure, a new swing set, with one more swing set to come. We also have two beautiful, new picnic tables. In the future, when we hold other fundraisers, we would like to raise money to add outdoor musical instruments and a play table for fun and different types of small blocks.
Although it may seem early (and it really is!), calls are already coming in for the 2014 school year, and tours are being scheduled. You will be receiving a letter and contract for the 2014-2015 school year later this month. Contracts will be due on November 15th.
- Parent workshop with Jeanine Fitzgerald - The Complex Dilemma: Plug-in or Wireless Entertainment. Wednesday, October 30 at 7:00 pm. At Temple Beth Avodah in Newton.
This is an opportunity for parents and educators to explore the ubiquitous topic of screen time as entertainment. Jeanine is a renowned behavior specialist.
- Live in Concert: Steve Songs - Monday, November 11 at 10:30 am at Temple Beth Shalom Children's Center, 670 Highland Ave., Needham.
We will continue to post any community event notices that arrive at Rockwell on our playground door.
