 DAVID POLANSKY CONCERT

On Friday, May 13th, all of the children will be walking to the Village for an intergenerational concert starring David Polansky.  This has become an annual favorite for children, teachers, and Villagers.

 SUMMER PROGRAM

I would like to gently remind you that summer program balances are now due.  Summer program begins on June 6th and goes through July 1st.  Please note that there is a week off between the end of school and the start of the summer program.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL

On Friday, May 27th, we will have our traditional All School End-of-the-Year Family Picnic at 11:30 on the playground.  This will be preceded in the Four-Year-Old class and the Transition Kindergarten by graduation ceremonies.  Please check with your child’s teachers for the exact times.  All three classrooms are invited to bring a blanket and picnic lunch and join us on the playground.  (There is no extended day program that day.) We look forward to seeing all of you there!

STUDENTS, VILLAGE VOLUNTEERS, AND “BRIDGES”

We have been blessed to have a wonderful volunteer from Lasell Village once again this year: Mrs. Eastman, in the three-year-old class.  She, as always, has been an amazing asset to our program.  Thank you, Carolyn!!

Our “Bridges” program was a great success in the 4-year-old class this spring, and our hope is to expand the program next fall to at least one other classroom.  We would like to thank Joann Montapare and Sara Liborio, our coordinators from the Village, and the Volunteers from Lasell Village and from the Newton Senior Center for their  contributions to our program. Just their presence in our classrooms has benefited both the teachers and the children.

We would also like to thank all of the Lasell students who volunteered, did pre-practicums, or who were employed at Rockwell this year.  They have added a wonderful dimension to our program, and the children (and teachers) have really enjoyed having them here. We hope that they will consider returning to Rockwell in the future.

They are:  Kelsey Williams, Taylor Witherbee, Katrina Kataftos, Gabby Patterson, Francesca Ceppetelli, Mallorie Smith, McKenzie Knight, Kendra Chandler, Hannah Natowitz, Megan Abrahamian, Corinne Palmer, Alex Wade and Jocelyn Chaves.

A very warm and special farewell to our graduating seniors: Taylor, Francesca, and Katrina.  We would like to wish them well in their future endeavors – we will truly miss them!

COMMUNITY EVENTS

Saturday, May 14 at 3:30 -  Newton Family Singer Presents Long May You Run, songs by Neil Young and Friends at the Newton South High SchoolPlease see flyers posted on the playground door for any new community event information that we receive.

It is hard to believe that the school year is almost over.  It has been our pleasure to love, learn, play, and work with your children.  We are grateful for your kind and generous support throughout the year.  We wish all of the children who are going off to new schools happy, healthy and successful school years, and look forward to seeing our returning children in the fall.
