Academic Centers - Advising

Required Meetings

All first-year students are required to meet with their academic advisor a minimum of five times each semester. The five required meetings are outlined below. Students are encouraged to also meet with their academic advisor for additional meetings should they have any questions or concerns.

First Semester

  • Meet Your Advisor Meeting: Develop rapport, discuss experience at Lasell and explore relevant policies and campus resources.

  • College Student Inventory (CSI) Meeting: Review CSI results and discuss students' transition into the first semester of college.
     
  • Midterm Meeting: Review students' midterm status report, discuss academic resources and prepare for Academic Planning Week.

  • Academic Planning: Review students' top course choices for registration as well as a list of alternates. Follow up on the midterm report meeting.

  • Reflections: Reflect on the students' first semester of college and finalize spring course schedule. 

Second Semester

  • Reconnecting Meeting: Review transcript from the first semester and discuss students' goals for the current semester.

  • Visualizing the Future Meeting: Complete a mapping exercise which is a tentative plan for the students' college career that will highlight academic opportunities.

  • Midterm Meeting: Review students' midterm report, discuss academic resources and prepare for Academic Planning Week.

  • Academic Planning: Review students' top course choices for registration as well as a list of alternates. Follow up on the midterm report meeting.

  • Transition to the Future: Highlight students' first-year accomplishments, talk about goals for the upcoming school year and discuss how to effectively communicate and meet with their faculty advisor.
