This field of study focuses on understanding and defining criminal behavior in the context of social, economic and psychological forces. It also includes the study of practices pertaining to the criminal justice system, crime prevention and public and corporate responses to crime on local, national and international level.  The content and skills developed in this major can be applied in the all the areas of law, law enforcement and justice systems, as well as in the development of public policy. Opportunities exist in county, state, federal and international criminal justice, private industry, social service agencies as well as educational settings and centers for research.
