Lasell Students Compete in BSO's Project Debussy

February 3, 2012

Three Lasell fashion students competed in the Boston Symphony Orchestra's annual fashion design contest --  Project Debussy -- on February 2 with gowns inspired by the composer Claude Debussy. Eleven finalists, including those from Lasell, showcased their designs for BSO patrons and celebrity judges following the symphony concert.

Meghan Coffman '13, Amanda Erickson '12, and Lindsay Holcomb '12 were asked to create evening wear that synthesizes Debussy's musical legacy and each designer's aesthetic creativity.

At the event the designers each escorted their models, wearing their evening gowns, to the runway to present their designs to the judges, which included designer Sara Campbell, Improper Bostonian columnist Jonathan Soroff, Executive Director of the French Cultural Council Catheline van den Branden, and others.

Event host and WGBH reporter Jared Bown called this year's Project Debussy designs the best yet - after hosting several of the BSO's design contests in previous years.
