Why did you choose Lasell College?
I never know how to answer this question. Basically, I randomly found Lasell on some college search engine, and decided to come for a visit. I stepped on campus, and knew right away that this is where I'd end up! No regrets since.
What is your favorite part of your major?
Everything, but mostly the faculty and other students in the major. The faculty always goes above and beyond what's expected of them, and makes sure that they truly put students first. The students in my major are all really nice and helpful, and it's great to see some familiar faces in my classes and I get into my junior and senior year and have taken classes with the same people! I've made a lot of great friends that I hope to stay in contact with after graduation!
What is an example of Connected Learning that you have experienced?
I was able to visit a prison in Walpole as a part of my Criminology class. We were able to connect a lot of our findings and research to real life criminals.
What is one of your favorite memories so far at Lasell?
Moving in on move-in day was by far one of my favorite memories. I made some of my closest friends in that first day, and felt right at home from day one.
What kinds of things do you like to do on-campus?
I'm involved with a few different clubs and organizations on campus, so I like to be in the Campus Center where most of that activity occurs, and just sit with friends and chat or grab some food at the Campus Center Grille.
What is an internship or volunteer experience that you have completed?
I was an intern for the Peer Health Education department, where I helped with planning and executing Alcohol Awareness Week and Domestic Violence Week on campus, although this internship was not necessarily for my major and was not for credit, I did it because I was interested in it.
What has been your favorite class so far and why?
My favorite class was Police and Society. We were able to have officers come in and talk about the realities of their job, and my professor also works at a police station, so it was all very interesting and different.
How has Lasell prepared you for the future?
Lasell truly embodies the "Connected Learning" philosophy, by ensuring that students know what they're walking into the second they leave this campus with their diploma. I think that not only has it helped me intellectually, but I feel more comfortable in interview settings, with public speaking, and with going outside of my comfort zone.
What is something you would student who is considering coming to Lasell College?
Lasell College really has the potential to be life changing for you. If you come here and make the most of every second and every opportunity, I promise you won't regret it!
What kinds of clubs and activities are you involved in?
I'm a Resident Assistant, an Orientation Leader, President of the Student Government Association, Vice President for the Class of 2013, President of Hope for Humanity, in the Honors Program, Dean's List, Peer Health Educator, Beccaria Society, Blue Key Society.
Do you have a favorite professor? Why?
Yes, Sarah Abbott is my advisor and has been my professor in two classes. She's fun a realistic, and always updates us on the most current issues pertaining to my major. She's extremely helpful, funny, and smart, and makes learning boring and tedious material more interesting. And she has a fantastic real British accent!
Have you taken advantage of any of the student services Lasell provides (ex. Spiritual Life, Career Services, etc)?
Yes, I've had Career Services look at my resume more than once, they always critique it to ensure that I can promote myself as best as possible when it comes time to get an internship or job.
