Accounting

The Accounting curriculum offers students a strong background in specialized accounting skills and exposure to a complete range of business functions. Students develop the financial knowledge and analytical skills necessary in understanding the various components of business organizations and the role of accounting within them. The Accounting major provides a flexible program of study relevant to all areas of accounting, with a strong emphasis on practical accounting work. Elective courses and internship experience allow the student to concentrate on specific career interests and needs. The program provides a basic background for several professional examinations. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the Accounting and Finance Department.

This requirement may be fulfilled by any combination of Anthropology, Art History, Biology, Chemistry, Criminal Justice, Economics, English, Environmental Studies,Foreign Language, Geography, History, Mathematics, Music, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Science, or Sociology courses. In addition to all courses in the above disciplines, courses that are marked with an asterisk (*) in the coursedescriptions section of the Catalog meet the Arts and Sciences Elective requirement.
