Biography:
Brad Allen's research interests include modeling the process of mathematical learning, simulating plant growth, and investigating issues of test construction and validity. He has presented his research from Maine to Florida and has published articles on many topics, including mathematics and science education, psychology, biology, and information technology.
Brad Allen is Assistant Editor for two journals: The Journal of Applied Mathematics and Stochastic Analysis, and The Journal of International Abstracts in Operations Research. He has been selected for Who's Who Among America's Teachers, Academic Key's Who's Who in the Sciences, and was the recipient of the Coburn Award for Excellence in Research. Prior to his position at Lasell College, Brad was Assistant Professor of Mathematical Sciences and Mathematics Education at Florida Institute of Technology.
What is your teaching philosophy for Lasell courses?
"I believe that real and lasting mathematics learning is an important and worthwhile experience at all levels. I strive to help each student think mathematically. I try to impart my enthusiasm for mathematics to all my students. I teach in a very concerned, open, and good-natured manner. Further, I strive to be entertaining, intriguing, enlightening, and have all my classes be memorable experiences!"
